Laurens Police Chief Robin Morse yesterday said that a break in a case of multiple car break-ins since this past October came this past Monday night, when suspects were reportedly spotted, initially breaking into a car at NHC of Laurens on Pinehaven Street.
“They got caught going into a car at the National Heath Care Center and then they went down to Chateau Arms and …they got spotted again by the owner of the car. Then the detective came out, and the road officers, and they did an outstanding job tracking them down and catching them, and getting this case broke. We’ve been working on this for a good while trying to get a lead on these thigns. My hats off to them because they’ve done a lot of hard work to get this case resolved.”
Chief Robin Morse said that there is some evidence that as many as 46 vehicles were broken into in connection with this case – although many were never reported to police.
Two people have been charged with twelve counts of Breaking Into a Motor Vehicle. They are 18 year old Dequinton Teshon Westfield of 204 Price Street, Laurens and a 14 year old male juvenile of Laurens. Meanwhile, 20 year old Ty Niary Dodson of 255 East Main Street Laurens is charged with two counts of Auto Breakin.
